Welcome to Karen Talbot Art

Karen is an awarding-winning conservation artist who splits her time between Laguna Beach, California and Merna, Wyoming. She works in a variety of media, including watercolor, pen and ink, acrylic, colored pencil, and pastels. Her work is collected by anglers, scientists and people passionate about the natural world, and it has been published in books, national print publications and online. Karen paints in the style of scientific illustration, frequently working from actual specimens. Scientifically accurate down to the number of scales along the lateral lines of many of her fishes, Karen's paintings combine the attention to detail of a scientific illustration with the aesthetics of fine art. A strong conservationist, Karen hopes her paintings will inspire others to become involved in conserving aquatic ecosystems, and she donates 10% of her proceeds to conservation each year. Karen exhibits her work as part of the world-renowned Sawdust Art Festival and at select other shows and events around the country.
