The California Historical Society founded in 1871 is a non-profit membership organization. Its mission is to inspire and empower Californians to make the past a meaningful part of their contemporary lives. The mission of the California Historical Society Bookstore is to generate revenue to support the exhibits and programs of the California Historical Society, provide continuing education materials, and enhance the knowledge, appreciation and enjoyment of California's history.
