The Old 100th Hymn or "Doxology" has been part of Protestant worship services since the 16th century. Many settings of it have been arranged for different musical combinations. This brass quintet version arranged by Ray Kirkham uses many shadings and colors and has been used for many years by the Vancouver Symphony Brass. Cherry Classics-Warlock, Peter-Capriol Suite for 10 piece Brass Ensemble
Peter Warlock was the pen name of Philip Arnold Heseltine, a British writer and music critic, at one time the editor of the musical Magazine, "The Sackbut". As a self-taught composer however, Warlock is renowned for this work, originally for string orchestra.
His love for Elizabethan music and poetry brought forth this great composition.
Mr. Haynor has done an excellent job of scoring this music for a 10 piece brass ensemble in two choirs of Brass Quintets. Trumpet parts are available in C & B-flat.

Chicken Scratch-Chorale Prelude on "Mo Li Hua" for Brass Choir by Micky Wrobleski
The Chinese love their folk songs. In the Beijing Symphony Orchestra, one of the more popular encores we play is the folk song "Mo Li Hua" or, "Jasmine Flower". Using this tune, I created this work for brass choir. It features each section of the brass choir and highly effective as the last piece on the first half, a second half opener, or an encore.

Chicken Scratch-Skirmish for Brass Quintet
"Skirmish for Brass Quintet" was written for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet. It opens up with a relentless line in the tuba which leads to each voice entering in turn leading you to the melody first stated by the trumpets which takes you, tumultuously to a peaceful slow section with the melody state by the French horn. The tuba draws this section to a close ending on a pedal A, then the trumpets interrupt and bring back the opening melody which drives the piece to a fiery finale!
